I am having a crazy issue this year while bow hunting in South Eastern MO. It seems no matter what I do this year, I keep getting winded by deer. I have tried everything. I was all of my clothes in scent away, bag them up immediately in a scent bag , store them in tote with cedar wood chips (there are cedars near my stand), tried different scent blockers, etc. I have had all but like 3 deer this year wind me and blow. I tried to put my climber stand on another area of the property to play the wind and still get winded. Its only happening in the 50 yard range, but thats the problem. I am a good bow shot up to 40 yards, but 50+ makes me nervous. This seems to be the first year ive had this issue on this property. Any suggestions for me?

I have been reading on here about deer scents and now I am overly confused. What is the difference between Doe Urine, Doe Estrous Urine, and Buck Lure? Also, when do you folks use what you use: Early Season, Pre,During, and Post ruts? Thanks for the advice.

Saw a commercial for "OFF" mosquito repellent clipons. I looked online and the cite says it is totally odorless. So my question is is it truly odorless and will it work for deer hunting without causing deer to bust me? Has anyone used it around the deer woods or has anyone seen how animals react to it?

Answer Question

Scented drags - I have been trying to get an answer to this question from some educated or knowledgeable source for some time so please give it your best shot. Does the applied scent (doe pee or other) dissipate appreci ably from the time it is applied to a scented drag device until the time when the hunter reaches his/her desired stand? And, if the answer to that question is the logical "Yes", then when a buck picks up that scent, would he, being of excellent olfactory capabilities, naturally follow the scent in the direction in which it becomes stronger thereby moving in the opposite direction of the hunter? Prior to entering the woods, I take every precaution imaginable to make myself scent free and yet, as you might have guessed, I have had no noticeable positive experience with scented drags and wonder if this might be the reason.

With the many different manufactures of deer scent products out there, does it make a difference as to what type of deer you are hunting and what scent to use? Example we hunt white tail deer in the Northeast, is there a particular deer scent for white tail deer or are all deer scents made universally for all different types of deer? Does it matter if the product was extracted from mule deer and we hunt white taildeer?
