Q:
To anyone at OL who may read this: I understand that you reserve the right to remove comments that fall outside the guidelines of your Terms of Use, but if that is what happened to my comment about Phil Robertson's remarks, I think I, and every other user of this site, deserve an explanation for why it was removed. Here is the section of your Terms of Use that concerns comments: "The Community Areas may be used for lawful purposes only. No material shall be posted on or transmitted through the Community Areas which violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others; which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, profane, indecent or otherwise objectionable; or which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, gives rise to civil liability or otherwise violates any law. You may not upload, post or otherwise make available on the Community Areas any material protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner of the copyright, trademark or other proprietary right. You are responsible for determining that any material you upload or contribute is not protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right. You shall be solely liable for any damages resulting from any infringement of copyright, trademark or other proprietary right, or any other harm resulting from any uploading, posting or submission. No user may engage in conduct that, in the Company.s judgment, restricts or inhibits any other user from using or enjoying the Community Areas. Advertising or commercial solicitation may not be posted on or transmitted through the Community Areas without the Company.s express written approval." My comment was not abusive, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, or profane. I do not see how anything I said could have violated or infringed in any way upon the rights of others - to the contrary, I was pointing out an infringement upon the rights of Mr. Robertson. I guess I have a hard time believing that my comment was somehow worse than many comments from anti-hunters I have seen on the site that were borderline hate-speech, and that most certainly did violate your Terms of Use, and yet they were not removed! If you don't do me the courtesy of explaining why my comment was removed, I will have to seriously consider whether I want to continue using the site.
