Matt - Personally, I am a bit taken aback by your posts. I'd venture to say that most people on OL also know about the F&S site. This site has great personable writers, knowledgeable people, and good topics.
If you want more interaction then contribute and invite others to contribute, too.
I agree with Mike there is nothing wrong with this site. its great
I'm on board with these guys.. I've posted questions and answered questions. I've never had an issue with it taking too long and have gotten some good quality answers. I'm not taking anything away from F&S, they're a great organization and have many partnerships with OL if I'm not mistaken. But I enjoy OL magazine every time it shows up in the mail box and I have really enjoyed the site as well.
I frequent both sites and like the articles, pics, etc. on both sites (heck, they're mirror images of each other). However, I do see his point about some lack of "action". While I'm an experienced hunter and fisherman, I'm trying to get into some new things or improve on what my dad taught me, so have questions at times. But sometimes only 1-3 people will answer, and while those answers have been VERY helpful (SD Whitetail being one of them, thanks by the way), you kind of hope for 20-30 people to chime in with the tips and knowledge they've built up over the years.
I also go to both sites and I like both of them. He's right that F&S is a lot more active, but I agree with Mike that OL has some great writers. Sometimes the traffic here gets a little slow, but some of the discussions get real lively. (Go to my profile & check out the iguana discussion in my "Likes" column.)
oh idk about the magazine never read it i started off on here and liked it and still do i just personally prefer field and stream a lot of guys on there talk about ol they said the left when they fired one of the writers i forgot his name but they were mad about it zane maybe
Matt,
You're probably thinking of Jim Zumbo. He made some negative comments about using "black rifles" for hunting that pissed some people off. I didn't really agree but I thought it was a reasonable topic for debate. I don't want to start up the whole argument about whether he should have been fired. It's water under the bridge.
yeah thats who it was i knew there was a z i thought it was just cut backs or something no one talked about why well take care all
im members on both sites and visit them both daily but i tend to spend most of my time ol
