try let your worms rot or chum the water with dog food
Ask the local bait shop or local fisherman
fresh chicken livers work i've used them on the deleware and they seem to produce and not only catfish
In my experience, fresh cut bait is the best. If you go to a catfish tournament that's what they all use. Also try the Hog Wild dip bait. With chicken livers, ask your mom or sister for a pair of old nylons. fill the toe with the chicken liver. Tye off a small piece and put that on a treble hook. It will help make the chicken liver last longer. Make sure though that is as small as you can make it, you don't want it to block your hooks. Good luck!
If you can find a feeder creek to your river, try 3-6" bluegill on bottom rigs any time of year for good size cats.
