I have caught very few walleye since I was able to land my first walleye last year. What time of the year and what method/tackle is best for walleye?

I've caught them from spring to fall with everything from crank baits to night crawlers. Sorry I could'nt help more.

Their eyes are sensative to light. They see mostly green & red and are attracted by vibration. Try a worm harness with a green colorado blade. Fish steep drop offs near flats. Fish in the low light hours. Good luck. www.letsgofishin.us

Actually, I've fished walleyes from Missouri to Ontario for close to 50 years and had great luck at almost any time of day or year if you are willing to take the time to figure out a pattern.
I prefer spinning gear with 6-10 lb line and a good jig tipped with a minnow, leech or crawler. Berkley's Gulp line of plastic is moving up fast on the list however.
Traditionally, spring has always been my favorite season and the last hour of the day seems to have a slight edge.
There are a ton of good books and videos out there, start with Infisherman, Gary Roach and Babe Winkleman. And don't be afraid to ask around the local bait shops, they make their money when you catch fish, just don't believe every "fish tale"
