Q:
i am new to surfcasting and need advice on line. i will be fishing for stripers up to 50lbs, with live bait mostly, using a 12ft heavy spinning outfit. should i be using mono or a braided line? and what test would be heavy enough for this style of fishing? 30lb, 40lb, 50lb test?? im in a rural area and have to order it in, so i want something that will work.
thanks

I would use 30 lb and unless your fishing style requires a non-stetchy line, go for a good quality mono if you care about price/value. I don't like heavier lines because they can be darn near impossible to break off if you get hung up.
