Q:
I recently set up a trail cam in my woods, and noticed that there are 5 different bucks running around at 1:00 to 6:00 AM. Is there any possible way to get them to come out during legal hunting hours? If so..... how?

Since the Rut is pretty much on in the midwest, they should start getting into rutting mode. They might/should be out during daylight. Try calls, rattling, grunting, in about a week or so depending on where you live start putting doe in estrous scent on.

With the rut coming on the bucks are more likely to get careless. Of course the most likely opportunity will be at first light. I am sure you have already come up empty trying your luck at that time - it is still your best bet. I have watched big bucks in the company of does as I awaited legal shooting time with dawn rising. Like your deer these big guys were use to moving in the open only at night. Old habits die hard with them and they are especially spooky standing out in the open at first light. Alert in an instant, poised to bolt into the bush and next instant back to the business at hand. It can some exciting moments watching and waiting for your opportunity. It once provided me with my worst case of buck fever - I got it together just in time and shot the largest buck I ever collected.

bucks won't bed all day. they will get up once in a while. some of my besst hunting was in the middle of the day while the rest of the hunters were at wal-mart.

I farm for a living and over the years I find myself still surprised by the number of bucks I see midday at this time of year. While in the summer months you simply so not see very many from the tractor seat. The only thing I can add that along with increase in activity in the daylight; I find them often crossing open hay fields and crop fields midday. Some of the most memorable bucks I have seen over the years have been from a tractor seat.
