Q:
I know I've been asking questions about rifles but when I was up at the gun store they had an old benelli montefeltro for 400 or 500 bucks! it seemed to be in nice condition. it also has the armi system in it. I also saw a Winchester sx2 which looked like it was in perfect condition for around $600 ( matte black). or should I go for one of there Remington 1100's they have for around 350-400 bucks. I need a shotgun more than a rifle ( my 870 express 20ga is a youth and to small.) still I want a 12ga preferably a semi auto because I waterfowl and pheasant hunt. also do they make rifled barrels for the montefelro? if they don't then I cant get it because I deer hunt with slugs on my property.

IF YOU STILL PREFER THE AUTO THE 1100 REMINGTON is a good choice, some areas and states I hunt are shotgun only.I've killed a truckload with it.

The SX2 is a good gun; the only problem is that you will most likely need to spend at minimum another $250 on top of that $500 if you want both a rifled barrel for deer and a smooth bore for birds. You could get both an 870 and a second barrel for a total of $500.

I’m with JM on this one. I have a 12 gauge 870 Remington with a Hastings rifled barrel and a low power fixed scope mounted right to it. I shoot BRI sabot slugs and its dead on at 100 yards. I don’t bird hunt with it, but have two other barrels that fit it if I ever wanted to. You are already used to a pump, so that would be no adjustment for you. You’ll be just as good as your friends with autoloaders and will probably burn through fewer shells too.

-The Montefeltro can not use a rifled barrel.
-I don't think the Winchester sx2 for $600 is a very good of a deal. The reason for this is that a USED barrel for the sx2 is going to cost more than $250(NEW barrel will cost $500+).
-The Remington 1100 would be good, but the barrel's for it will be around the same price as the sx2($250 used, up to $500 new).
-Because of this I'd suggest getting another 870 in 12 gauge. The 870 has just about every barrel possible for a reasonable price(Quick search and I found that NEW barrels are around $200). After a few years practicing you will be able to shoot just as effectively with a pump as someone with a semi-auto.
