Providing that it’s open range and not some luxury high fence game farm, Africa, definitely. You can hunt jungle or savannah, plains game or dangerous game, small game or enormous game, one rifle or a three gun battery, the sky is the limit on the dark continent. I think for me I’ll always take hunting on the prairie grasslands over some dark, wet forest. I’m not saying that I would turn my nose up at Alaska, I would just prefer to trek across Africa while hunting.

Africa is a better bargin. US hunters do not understand Africa hunting. High fence can be very difficult. The targets of opprotunity make it exciting. The little things that are different, plants, insects, animals not hunted, birds are all very interesting. The exposure to many different cultures. Alaska is small compared to Africa.

There is not even an issue here. AFRICA without any doubt. It is MUCH less expensive than Alaska, you can shoot more animals, including the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, cape buffalo and rhino) as well as the Magnificent Seven (the Big Five plus hippo and croc), or over 100 different plains game. And the accomodations, food and professional hunters cannot be rivaled anywhere else in the world.

Africa if for no other reason than economics. The cost of a single animal hunt in Alaska, say moose, far exceeds the cost of a multiple animal hunt in Africa. And that includes air fare and other travel costs. Of course if I had the money I would love to hunt both areas.

Alaska all the way! Why would you go across an ocean and spend big $$$ to sit in the hot desert and wait for something to come to a watering hole, or stalk around hoping to not catch malaria? You could spend less cash, have a more exciting hunt, and help out this dwindling economy without leaving the country. Not to mention the awesome selection of game in Alaska, and the fishing!

You really can't compare the two. They're basically two different worlds...The bottom line is that you just have to weigh the pro's and con's of each and do what YOU want to do. Listen to other people's opinion and advice, but don't let anyone make the decision for you.

I would definitely have to choose Alaska, not just because it's the "Coldest State, Hottest Governor" but because I love to eat moose & salmon. Also my grandparents came from Sweden and therefore I am genetically predisposed to cooler climes. Don't care for hot weather much at all, that kind of leaves Africa out of the picture for me. I personally have lived in Alaska, and I will tell you this. Alaska has much more diversity. It also has some of the best freshwater and saltwater fishing in the world. Africa has snakes and who knows what kinds of diseases and bugs. I believe that Alaska has not been home to one case of West Nile Virus. There isn't one snake in Alaska, and it is just better. If you want to hunt something that isn't going to eat you alive or maul you, go for the caribou or sitka deer, if you want more of a thrill, go for brown bear or moose. If you want something extremely challenging, go for wolf. If you want exotic, there's always muskoxen. I think that pretty much covers it all. Alaska is better. If you have any questions, ask the moose in my backyard.
