judo points are used to make blount force trauma.just internal damage, the springs are used to keep from loseing the arrow in tall grass or under leaves.
I might not be right--- but as I understand the judo point is what I and many others use for stump shooting or practice in the field.By design it is not expected to penetrate and thus makes the arrow easier to retrieve. There are other designs available for birds and small game that are recognized for the purpose of harvesting game. The judo point will undoubtedly deliver trauma but may not achieve the performance of a clean harvest.
Some Judo points are great for hunting. Montec makes a great one. They deliver blunt trauma and cause significant damage. They also have claws or springs that grab the ground and pop the arrow up in the air so it is easily found. They will leave a nice hole but so doeas a razor broadhead. Judo points are good for varmints and even turkey.
patrick is correct on how the point works and i shot a gray squirrel with one a few years back 55 lb compound deerhunter pse hit the gray right behind the shoulder through the animal about ten feet killed it on impact but from the out side you could not tell that you even touched it the arrow destroyed the internal organs and bruised the walls of the pelt but is a great tip flies true as well.
