Q:
I have 30-o6 sighted in for 125 yards, when I shoot from 18 feet high stand at a deer 40 yds away how should I aim, low like a bow or exactly at target area?

Aim exactly, at that range no need for compensation.
I agree! The killing zone is large in the chest area and at that range striking fractions of an inch from the crosshair point is not worth worrying about.
at only 40 yds, right in the kill zone. if there is significant distance either up hill or downhill you should aim a little low. believe it or not, it's true.
At 40 yards with a 125 yard zero, the bullets path and cross hairs will almost be dead on
