By the teeth, but I can't explain it. If you have pictures or actual jaw bones to compare, it's pretty easy. They grow an extra tooth--I forget--at about 2 years old I think. From there, the teeth wear down like a horse.
take it to a check station in most areas. the wardens like to look at the animals because they keep records. they will be happy to age it for you.
Like Seadog said: Age a deer by its teeth. I have a book that shows a deer's teeth development over its life span.
