using your optics to look at something
just like saying I scoped that draw up and down
I glassed that draw didnt see much our I was glassing & seen a huge shed antler about 90 yards away

Searching a hillside, valley, mountain side or ridgeline etc with optics in search of. Kinda like looking for a needle in a hay stack!
Agreed, I have always known it to be using a spotting scope for looking over a mountain side or across the open range.
