Q:
The past several times I have been hunting, right after shooting light several of the same deer make it into my food plot. I have stayed in the stand several times as to not spook them. But, here recently I have snorted or blown at them in order to alert them but not scare them off. Once I got out of the stand with them right there and yet they just trotted away as if nothing was wrong. Why do they keep coming back at the same time every night despite having being spooked in the same spot night after night.

The deer go online every year to download a copy of the local hunting regulations. They also read OL to keep one step ahead of us. They can tell from your username that you are an ethical hunter, so they know they are safe after shooting hours. I hope this helps. (Sorry, I'm in one of those moods again--I can't help it).

Deer aren't dumb, and they can figure out that you aren't a real danger to them. If you shot a couple, you'd wonder where they all went. They are also real good at patterning human activity and adapting their behavior to their advantage.

Thats how hunting is. Shoot a buck and you will see a bigger one on the way home. I find farmland deer are more tolerable because they are used to farm vehicles and equipment. Deer still operate on instinct so we can outwit them if we know how they react to situations. Fishhook move is good example and will work on biggest buck and dumbest doe. Luck is a big part of hunting and putting in time.
