Q:
I'm taking a search and rescue course at school and part of the course reqs is to get a ready pack together for going out on searches. I'm kind of at a loss as to what kind of pack and size I should use, and what kind of gear I should keep in it. I've got a large pack(2150 cubic inches) not sure if thats to big or not? Just looking to put together a good 24 hour pack. Any advice welcome.

I would look for a stuedy mid size pack that is frame less and hugs the body well and is brightly colored in a color that is not a natural color., like orange or blues and yellows. I would evaluate what my purpose for the pack is and then make sure the needed equipment can be placed in color coded stuff bags to make a easy to find load and still all fit well inside the pack and cover my needs. I would wear and carry the pack and make adjustments to make sure it works well in a real rescue scenario.
