With all the attention being focused on the possibility of new gun control laws due to recent political changes, what is the best way that we as individual gun owners can help to preserve our Second Amendment rights, in addition to the obvious first step of joining pro-gun organizations like the NRA?

Is pillar bedding an advantage or even neccassary on a hunting rifle?
With modern advancements in maching and metalurgy, and barrel making etc. is there a break in period required on new hunting rifles and if so whats the best procedure for breaking in a rifle barrel.
I bought my 9 year old son a single shot .22. Right now he uses the open sights. I was wondering what the best scope setup for a young hunter is? Should I put on a fixed 4 power scope or look to the future and put on something like a 3x9 adjustable? Thanks.
When it comes to hunting any four legged game from alligators to zebras what type of firearm action do you prefer to hunt with: a single shot, bolt action or semi-automatic action rifle? Included with your choice of action, do you have a favorite manufacturer, caliber and species that you like to hunt?
My first question was about rifles. I have a second question similar to the rifle question, but it applies to pistols.
In regard to pistols: When it comes to hunting any four legged game from alligators to zebras what type of pistol do you prefer to hunt with: a single shot, bolt action, revolver (single or double action) or semi-automatic action pistol? Included with your choice of pistol type and action, do you have a favorite manufacturer, caliber and species that you like to hunt?
What would be the most accurate way to sight in a rifle scope or iron sightes.
What caliber would you recommend for deer hunting, varmint hunting, and shooting targets at 300 yards?

Many rifles being produced now have free floating barrels, does this provide any advantages or is it a quicker way of mass producing guns?
Why are left handed guns more expensive and harder to find?
i shoot a .270 WIN and have it zeroed for 250 yrds but i have trouble getting tight groups. WHat are your sudjestions for tightening up my patterns so that i can be more confident in my self while in the field?
The trigger pull on many rifles newly purchased is often heavy, would it be better for the firearms owner to get a gunsmith or someone with the expertise to lighten the trigger pull rather than to do it yourself?
Gun prices vary a lot and in this day and age with all the technology and money these companies invest in manufacturing better guns, what do you think is the best way to invest your money when purchasing a firearm? Does the price difference mainly rely in looks or performance and what gun manufactures make give you the best 'bang' for your buck? With the economy the way it is I think it is I think these are great questions to explore.
My handgun got some rust on the stainless barrel (even though I clean it regularly). What can I do to get rid of it, and how can I prevent it?
Technology today seems to be advancing ever faster. However, the classic rifle cartridge components (brass, bullets, and primers) have gone through relatively no changes in a century. Are there any new and exciting technologies on the horizon in these categories, or did our granddads just get it right the first time?
Over the centuries military rifles have been morphed into civilian rifles for target shooting, hunting or personal protection. It doesn't matter whether it was a muzzle loader, bolt, pump or semi-auto action firearm, eventually civilians embraced these new rifles. The AR-15 platform is no different and has been used for all of the above uses. At the moment the AR-15 is popular. Will we see the semi-auto such as the AR-15 as the next rifle to be embraced and popularized by civilians as the bolt action was or will it be just a passing fad?
I'm looking to buy my first hunting rifle. What is the most versatile rifle that will work for Whitetail along with other species in Minnesota?
What is the proper amount of torque that should be applied to the screws of scope mounts and rings?
This year will be my first time deer hunting, period. Any suggestions to a rookie to make this the most enjoyable hunt possible (besides the obvious bagging a record deer ;) )?
How do you keep the bullets from an older British Enfield 303 from tumbling? Gun smith thought hotter loads....didn't work.
I shoot a Remington 870 magnum express 12 gauge with a rifled barrel and have tried many different types and brands of slugs. I have tried everything from sabot, rifled, and non-rifled slugs in different sizes (2 3/4 and 3 inch) and weights (1 oz and less). I have found the best results are with winchester 2 3/4 rifled slugs. Is it okay to shoot rifled slugs through a rifled barrel or are you suppose to only use sabot slugs? Will it damage the barrel ?
What is the best way to store and preserve any type of firearm for long term storage whether it be for a year or longer? The military has used cosmoline for storing their arms for long term storage. What proper way(s) would the average person use to store and preserve their firearm(s) for long term storage? This storage process would include the stock as well as the action and barrel.

What are important factors to look for when purchasing a used firearm? What are the “deal makers” and “deal breakers” while looking the firearm over in the store?
There has been an ongoing debate around deer camp about the dry firing of pistols, shotguns and rifles. Half say that it's a big NO NO and the other half of us say it will not affect the gun and should be done to get the "feel" of the trigger. Can you settle this once and for all!?
Who makes an air rifle that can take a deer down at 70 yards? What states would allow a hunter to take deer sized game with an air rifle?
What are the pros and cons of real wood stocks & gun parts, as opposed to the pros and cons of synthetic stocks & parts?
Is there a significant difference in usability and function, or is it more of a price/aesthetic preference?
I have a Winchester Model 94 Marked Canandian Centenial 1867-1967 Caliber.30-30win. in an O.K. and very well used condition But, not a prize winner! Would it be a good idea or even worth it to mount a scope as a side/saddle mount or at all to help me see both wild game and targets better? The scope needs between 6-8 Inches of Eye-Relief and the only one's I've seen made is a Redfield(Sold-Out to a compeditor) and possibly Weaver(Not sure, but seen one side-mounted on a 94?) Please, Before you judge me on what many consider a gunsmithing sin! I'm diabetic(eye-problems & hands shaking), slightly near-sighted, and wear eye-glasses! What is the best all-around - one gun caliber a hunter can purchase?
What can we do as hunters and stewards of our land to show the rest of society we are not a bunch of savage killers and actually care very deeply about the future of our children and the wildlife we share our world with. The privilage of taking a gun in to the field and teaching are generation and the next is something we can't afford to lose
With so many centerfire/scope combos available today, I am curious if any of the combos feature a scope worth keeping?
It is abundantly clear from various statements made by the founding fathers of our country that one of the reasons for the Second Amendment is to protect us from potential abuses by our own government. History is full of examples where governments have abused power to the detriment of their own citizens. With this in mind, are we doing enough to preserve this valuable right and will the Second Amendment still be there for us when we really need it?
I'll go with the classic... Which is a better shotgun the Mossberg 500 or the Remmington 870 Express?
Rifles only have their barrels rifled and not their bullets so why are shotguns barrels and slugs rifled.
Rifles only have their barrels rifled and not their bullets so why are shotgun slugs rifled?
What are the pro's and con's to using a .223 to hunt whitetail deer with?
How often should you clean your gun after use? The question comes from growing up, my dad basically always said that any time you take the gun out you have to clean it. That meant that everytime I went out in the woods whether I took a shot or not it had to be cleaned. The way I see it, the outdoorsman on the frontier would probably go quite a while without cleaning their guns. But it was his house his rules. So what gives? Should we clean the gun after every outing? Or say it's hunting season, and I'm hunting the entire week, do I need to clean it every night? Am I destroying my gun because I'm not cleaning it nightly?
I see a massive 7x7 bull elk at 400 yards, quartering away, and slowly moving. I Also see a smaller 6x6 at 100 yards, perfectly broadside and holding still...which do I shoot?
Dry firing a firearm has always been one of those things you are not supposed to do. What exactly can happen and what kind of damage can dry firing do to a firearm?
I have a Remington 700ADL in .270 Win. The trigger pull is tighter than I would like but I'm unable to find anyone who will make an adjustment on it. I'm told only the factory can do this. What's the deal?
Some say it is a fact, others say it is a myth. When a rifle is fired, does the projectile ever rise above the direct line between the end of the gun barrel and the target?
My rifle is sighted in at 100 yards on a level range. When shooting uphill or downhill; what is a good rule of thumb for how much to compensate/where to place the crosshairs?
I have not shot my Browning Citori for 35 years. I can see some corrosion in the barrel. If I clean the barrel with a wire brush & gun cleaning kit, followed by shooting some steel shot, followed by a good cleaning with a wire brush, will it take care of the corrosion in the barrel?
With all the advancements in ammunition, how many shots through a single gun before I should be concerned with trajectory/accuracy being effected by too many shots through the same barrel?
What are the odds of killing a coyote with a 22
I always here crap about how much a 30-06 bullet arches and i should buy a .308 because it shoots flatter and more accurate. which bullet arches more and which would be more accurate.
I want to know why my shoulder is getting sore with a 20 gauge instead of a 12 gauge with less kick. Let’s say both shells are shooting the same shot and powder. Looking at ballistics, the 20 looks like it’s maybe 50 fps faster (which may be the bore), but that’s all I can find. I think a 20 hits harder, but if so, why? So besides the gauge and everything else being equal, what is the difference?
My uncle wants to shoot an anvil, as seen on tv, and a old custom in the south. Which would deliver a better launch black powder or pellets and how much to use?
The powder in my black powder was wet yet lodge the bullet midway up the barrel due the odd burn because the pellets got wet whats the best way to remove the bullet without damaging the barrel
How can i mount a scope on a old model 30-06 with out putting new holes into the gun to save value?
Why is it called the .38 when it is really .36 - or with newer calibers, .357?
With newer rifles commonly having stainless steel barrels and synthetic stocks, is it possible that animals will be able to see these assets more easily than the traditional, wood-stock, blued barrelled rifles? Also, with these options supposedly making the rifle more durable, are they worth the extra cost and risk of being spotted?
With todays modern powder how often is it necessary to clean your firearms. I have friends who shoot handguns in competition and they say when the gun is on they only wipe down the gun when done, but do not clean the barrel.
As a boy growing up on the Aluetian Chain in Alaska my dream was to work, run, an own a Fishing and Hunting guiding service. Now I'm here in Tacoma,Wa. as a grown-up; wondering if it is to late? My question is that what does it take to start a buisness? As I am lost in a sense of where to start from, where, who, what, when; (Ex. as a greenhorn on a fishing boat in the middle of the Bering Sea with 30 to 50 foot waves coming in all directions wondering what to do)
Any visit to a store to purchase a barrel cleaning solvent is like a trip into "wonderland". I wonder which I should be using! There seems to be hundreds of products, each claiming to be the best, some for copper, some for powder residue, some for lubrication and some for rust preventatives. Could you provide some guidance on products and their specific uses?
I never really broke my deer rifle as i read i should have when i got it (I was 17 at the time). Well, it's a few years later, is there a good way to condition the barrel now (maybe 50 shots thru it) to maximize accuracy?
Last year I bought an AR15 with intentions of using it for hunting both varmints and whitetail deer. Is the .223 round capable of ethically killing deer-sized game and, if so, what type of bullet do you recommend for proper expansion in this caliber for this application?
When I shoot my Marlin XL7 from the bench at the range the bullets go right where the crosshairs are on the target. However, when hunting from a stand the shots go high and to the right. I don't think buck fever is the issue. Could it result from wearing more clothing? Any suggestions?
My favorite Scope has broke. I've been told that since it's an internal part that it's chances of being fixed is slim. Can this Scope be fixed or will I have to replace it? Any suggestions on who can fix it in the Tulsa Oklahoma Area?
I have a 1912 hercules double barrel shotgun where can i get a forarm for it. Mine was lost while i was in the military traveling a lot.
Most survival guns are break down 22 caliber long rifles. It will do an adequate job of providing enough game to live on , in the right hands.
But it may come up short as a weapon of defense , against a hungry
cougar or bear. But in an emegency and a 22 caliber long rifle is all you have to defend yourself with. What would be the ideal distance for maximum velocity and penetration for the 22 long
rifle ?
What equipment is needed for reloading shotgun ammo and what is the approximate cost of this equipment?
