Shocker: NRA to Oppose Obama Re-Election-0

    by

Before the NRA Annual Meeting formally convened on Friday in Pittsburgh, Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the NRA would "actively oppose" President Barack Obama's re-election in 2012.

Even LaPierre admitted the group's opposition to Obama is "no surprise," but he felt a need to come out early and strongly to galvanize Second Amendment advocates to begin preparing for the election now.

Video: AA-12 Fully Automatic Shotgun Demonstration-6

    by

The AA-12 is a drum-fed fully automatic shotgun. It’s hard to picture a string of words more pleasing to the ears than that, though “Gisele Bundchen needs her rubdown now,” comes close.

This video contains a couple NSFW words, so take that into consideration before firing it up. Everything else about this is pure gold, from the hammy narration to the actual performance of the shotgun. (SEE THE VIDEO HERE)

Laserlyte Introduces Picatinny Quad-Rail for Double Barrel Shotguns-0

    by

This is by far the most interesting product announcement of the day: a Picatinny quad-rail attachment for double barrel side-by-side shotguns. Laserlyte, the company that is making it, says it is designed specifically for coach type shotguns made by Stoeger and Cimarron and that it is ideal for mounting lasers, pistol bayonets and other accessories.

More of the Same From HBO's 'Gun Fight'-1

    by

Don't expect anything except more of the same stereotypes and liberal bias from HBO's documentary "Gun Fight," which debuted on Wednesday, earlier this month and will run frequently on the network through May 4.

Oscar-winning documentarian Barbara Kopple claims her film is a fair and balanced examination of "the gun culture in America," but Robert Farago, publisher and managing editor of The Truth About Guns, says it is the same rehashed hyperbole dished out by the anti crowd for years.

Another Look at the Palm Pistol-2

    by

Bob Boyd over at Shooting Illustrated called me out for my less-than-enthusiastic take on the Palm Pistol.

He says I’m missing the benefit of the design for those with severe physical disabilities:

“Having been disabled since birth, I can tell you that people suffering with quadriplegia, for example, may not possess the strength to lift a firearm of average weight, or the motor skills required to grip a traditional handgun. Even a crisp, 4-pound trigger on a custom 1911 may well be impossible for them. While Snow’s taste in handguns is excellent, if his SIG Sauer’s trigger is anything like the 7-pound, 2-ounce deal on the one I evaluated for Shooting Illustrated, depending upon the degree of paralysis to the limbs, the trigger may be too heavy.”

Second Amendment Applies Even in NYC-1

    by

The Second Amendment Foundation filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on April 5th, alleging that New York City’s $340 fee for a permit to keep a handgun in the home is “excessive and … impermissibly burdens the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”

SAF is joined in the lawsuit by the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association and five individual New York City residents.

    Strange Guns: Palm Pistol-4

    by

No, Gary Cooper didn’t carry one of these on his hip in High Noon and if he had bad guy Frank Miller (played by Ian MacDonald) and his gang would have laughed themselves silly before gunning down Cooper’s character, Will Kane.

It looks more like an asthma inhaler than a pistol, but this thing apparently holds a single .38 Spl. round, is held in your fist like a hand exerciser for increasing grip strength and fires with a push of the thumb.

Register a Resounding 'NO' for Traver as ATF Chief-3

    by

As of April 1, there was no schedule for anti-gun zealot Andrew Traver to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee to be confirmed as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

But Second Amendment advocates and conservatives far and wide are clanging the alarm bells, signaling that now -- right now -- is a good time to contact your U.S. Representatives and Senators to register a resounding "NO" to his confirmation.

There is plenty to be alarmed about regarding Traver.

    Free Ballistics Calculators-2

    by

I probably spend more time than I should fooling around with ballistics calculators on the Internet.

When I’m looking to get a dope card for a new handload or a wildcat I’m working on, I tend to use this one at Handloads.com. I like the fact that I can put in any B.C. I want, add environmental conditions (I live at nearly 5,000 feet in elevation, so it does make a difference) and calculate my drop and drift out to 1,000 yards.
