by Randy Lee Tenley was struck and killed by two vehicles on Highway 93 near Kalispell, Montana earlier this week ... oh, and Randy was dressed as a Bigfoot at the time.
Police say the 44-year-old was in the middle of the right lane in a spot where motorists could not see him on Highway 93 South of Kalispell when he was struck by two separate vehicles. Montana Highway Patrol Officer Jim Schneider told ABC Montana, “He [Randy] had this Ghillie suit and was going to attempt to get the attention of passing motorist and ... make them feel like they saw Bigfoot or Sasquatch."

Bison numbers are above management goals in Wyoming, which could mean more hunting opportunities for residents and nonresidents alike.
This from the Associated Press: "A proposal by state Rep. Keith Gingery, R-Jackson, would end the once-in-a-lifetime rule for harvesting bison cows and replace it with a once-every-five-year rule. His draft legislation also proposes lowering the cost of a cow bison license for nonresidents from $2,500 to $1,000 …"

Check out this monster elk photo posted on the Boone & Crockett Club's Trophy Watch website. The bull was reportedly taken by Corey Knowlton with the Arizona Governor's tag. Each year the state auctions off a tag that allows a hunter to hunt the prime units in the state.
The bull's green gross score is a whopping 440 inches. The world record typical elk was taken in Arizona in 1968 and stands at 442 5/8 inches (net score).

Gabriella Esperson of Whitewater, Wisconsin let go what most anglers can only dream of: a potential new state record largemouth bass.
The 21-year-old biology major and UW-Whitewater fishing team member was fishing on an undisclosed lake with her boyfriend Ryan Nelson near Edgerton last week Tuesday when a fish hit her wacky-rigged 6-inch soft plastic bait. Gabriella, who had caught and released a 13-inch largemouth bass only 45 minutes earlier, knew she had hooked something big.

by Richard White, 49, was killed Friday by a grizzly bear in Denali National Park, Alaska while taking photos. It is the first time someone has been killed by a grizzly in the 4.7 million acre park's history.
From the LATimes.com:
"The incident began Friday afternoon when three day hikers found a camera, a backpack and evidence of a violent struggle along the Toklat River, including torn clothing and blood. They reported what they found to park rangers, who sent a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft to search for White, officials said.

Invasive species can spread in many different ways, but how about by helicopter transport?
That's the case in Hawaii where ranch owner Jeffrey Scott Grundhauser and helicopter pilot Thomas Leroy Hauptman are being tried for illegally transporting axis deer and mouflon sheep by chopper.
This from the Associated Press: "The alleged animal smugglers took axis deer from Maui to the Big Island and dropped them off to roam. Officials say they took Big Island sheep to a Maui hunting ranch, but apparently didn’t release them to the wild. Even so, the sheep’s arrival on Maui for the first time deeply concerns conservationists who fear the animals could escape or give others the idea to bring over more.

I’ve yet to decide if this combination ranks up there with beer and pork rinds or is as miserable a failure as the joining of Chris Brown and Rihanna (for those of you not up on pop culture the latter is not a good combination).

by Where is Alanis Morissette when you need her? Irony reared its ugly head in Norway when a driver swerved his car to avoid hitting a moose only to hit a bear instead.
The driver was on a country road some 140 miles north of Oslo around midnight last Wednesday when he spotted a moose. He swerved to avoid the animal not knowing that there was a bear a short distance behind it.

by Further proof that the Everglades have been overrun with invasive pythons came in the form of a 17-foot, 7-inch long monster caught and killed earlier this week.
The Burmese python, which weighed more than 150 pounds, is thought to be the largest snake ever caught in North America. To understand just how large this snake is consider that a 2013 Chevy Suburban measures just over 18.5 feet. A more chilling explanation of the slithering nightmare’s size comes from Florida Museum of Natural History snake expert Kenneth Krysko who told The Sun, “A 17-foot snake could eat anything it wants.”
