Celebrity Fishing Photos: The Good, Bad, and Ugly-6

They make millions of dollars, drive 200 mph cars, and are addicted to staying beautiful, but at the end of the day celebrities are not that different than everyone else. For example, a handful of Hollywood stars took time out of their springs and summers to go fishing. What follows is a quick round up of good, bad, and ugly celebrity fishing excursions. The good: famous people having fun and promoting our sport. The bad: famous people not having a clue what they’re doing on the water. The ugly: famous people negatively impacting our sport.

Tell Us About Your Fantasy Hunt, Win This Pair of Russell Moccasin Safari Boots!-38

The temperature cracked 80 degrees here in Fredericksburg, Texas this weekend, which means 100 degrees is just a few weeks away – just the way I like it! This warmer weather, of course, runs my thoughts toward hunting. Yes, I hunt in hot weather. I can’t stand the cold, and as such, I turned my hunting passion toward the hot spots of the world years ago.

Eco-Friendly Swedish Hotel Located in Trees-5

Release your inner raccoon the next time you’re in Sweden by staying at the Treehotel near the town of Harads.

As the name implies, the Treehotel is a getaway consisting of 24 rooms suspended 13 to 19 feet off the ground in trees. Founders Kent and Britta Lindhall said they were inspired to build the unique hotel by the 2008 film The Tree Lover (A favorite of Outdoor Life readers, I’m sure), which centers on three city dwelling friends who build a tree house together.

One theory is that this year’s harsh Siberian winter – temperatures have dropped to, minus 120 Fahrenheit – has depleted the number of the wolves’ usual prey of rabbits and other small animals.

    Gayne's Putin Man Crush Continues-8

Man-Crush - When a straight man has a “crush” on another man, not sexual but kind of idolizing him.
    –Urban Dictionary

Despite the fact that neither Prime Minister Vladimir Putin nor his office has contacted me after several requests, my Putin man-crush continues to grow. This past week, his camp released several action shots of him in the rugged Russian backcountry that seem to solidify what the press has termed his “modern-day Marlboro man” image. The photos show Putin - dressed in full camo – exploring the backcountry on horseback, admiring a large trout he’s holding aloft, and navigating some difficult terrain with a scoped hunting rifle over his shoulder.

Gayne Has Putin on His List-6

Back in December I wrote “start hanging out with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin” on my list of New Year’s Resolutions. I did so because he has a fondness for beer, enjoys watching fights, and gets to hunt endangered species with a tranquilizer gun. I’m sure him engaging in the latter has to do with his political clout and not with the fact that he’s so cool he responds to wimpy reporters that ask about his outdoor endeavors by saying, “Living in general is dangerous.” You tell ‘em Putin.  If he gives you anymore lip ship him to a gulag!
