Shed Hunting Tips from the Experts

Shed Hunting Tips from the Experts - 2

The folks at Whitetail Properties are planning the "The World's Largest Shed Hunt" on March 1, and to get participants motivated and educated, they posted this video on how to find more sheds. The basics of shed hunting are pretty obvious of course: look for sheds where deer spend most of their time during the late-winter months.

But this video divulges some insider info: bring binos for glassing distant habitat, check honey holes that get a lot of sun light, and focus on field edges.

So what's the scoop on the "Shed Rally"?

It’s for anyone and everyone getting outside on March 1, hunting for shed antlers and uploading photos to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and using the hashtag #ShedRally. The video found at Youtube.com/WhitetailPropTV explains more.

Whitetail Properties will judge all photos uploaded that use the #ShedRally hashtag and pick the most original and creative users to win prizes from Realtree, Scent-Lok, Tenzing and more.

I'm wondering how they're going to sort out all of the "staged" entries where people pre-place last year's sheds and act like they've just found them. Will the folks at Whitetail Properties be giving out Oscars for the Best Performance?

Sheds are gonna be tough to find what with more than a foot of snow still on the ground here in illinois. Any tips besides a video with pre-placed sheds?
