Hurricane Isaac Aftermath: Has Remnant BP Oil Washed Up On the Louisiana Coast? - 0

For residents of southern Louisiana, the nightmares never seem to end and now the long-feared aftermath of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill may be rearing its ugly head thanks to Hurricane Isaac.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced the closure of all commercial and some recreational fishing off Fourchon and Elmer’s Island after a large tar mat and concentrations of tar balls were spotted along the area’s beaches. Testing is underway to determine if the “weathered oil” is a remnant of the BP spill churned up and washed ashore by Isaac.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Garret Graves, chairman of Louisiana’s Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, warned of this possible scenario just days before Isaac hit.
