The world's first hybrid shark has been discovered off the coast of Australia. Researcher Jess Morgan, from the University of Queensland, said a new breed, a mix between the Australian black-tip shark and its counterpart (the common black-tip shark) was discovered recently. The finding is unprecedented in the shark world.
   
Morgan was quoted as saying: "this is evolution in action." A total of 57 individual specimens were dissected with a number of generations being discovered within the sample. The Australian black-tip is a slightly smaller species than its common cousin and lives in tropical waters.

The hybrid species was found 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) down the Australian coast in cooler seas. Researchers say the hybrid black-tip may be nature's response to climate changes.
