Obama's Ban Would Cost Jobs - 14

Responding to Attorney General Eric Holder's comment last week that the Obama Administration will attempt to reinstate a ban against semi-automatic rifles, the National Shooting Sports Foundation reminded Congress and all Americans that such a ban would eliminate jobs in a difficult economy, have no effect on reducing crime, and deprive millions of law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners of their Constitutional right to own the firearm of their choice.

These people are so ignorant. They want to fix the economy, but they keep creating job-loss for selfish gains. I don't know what they,re gaining from this, though. It doesn't even help the country in any way at all, in fact in many studies anning guns increases crimes.
The Obama administration has a very liberal agenda, though that is not a surprise. If looked at in depth it isn't actually solely about job creation or job preservation. The cap and trade policy may lower emissions, however it definitely will cause manufacturers to close, job destruction and higher prices for consumers. Punishing firms that use corporate jets may be good PR but in reality it hurts one of the few industries in the US that has a positive effect on the balance of trade. The aerospace and defense industry employs just as many as the auto industry and by punishing that it does even more damage to america. With regards to the banning guns, it is no surprise and is just another way for the federal government to disarm law abiding citizens.
This is a ridiculous bill proposed by Rep Carolyn MacCarthy. She had family killed by a gunman but this bill is not going to help anyone. Criminals will ALWAYS have guns and so should we. I wish congress would actually try to tackle and important issue, ya know.... like the ECONOMY!!
Ya know, people warned of this coming way back, but there were plenty of posters right here on this forum that said we were just crying wolf and were radical right wing neocons trying to keep GWB policies in the White House. I met a couple of guys from Vermont back during deer season that voted for B.O. and when I stated facts about the guy and his record on guns and liberal policies I got the deer in the headlights look. Hopefully we will have enough balls in the congress and senate to see that this is an ignorant idea.
Ya last time I checked Senate an Congress were the same thing but your right, they warned us of this during his campain and hopefully the bill gets shot down

Younggun, a lot of times the word congress is used to exclusively represent the House of Reps.
They don't want to fix anything but
No. 1. their position in the government.
No. 2. the control they have over you.
They do NOT represent the people of the USA, they represent themselves and their own personal interests. Don't believe me? Try not paying you taxes like Geithner, Dachle et al. You would go to prison, them, they got high paying govt jobs.

bighunter, the problem is they don't believe it says what it says. Our UN-distinguished Attorney General Holder has repeatedly stated the Second Amendment does not give individual rights. Only a lawyer could say black is white, white is black and convince people he knows what he is talking about.
I think you are all being really dramatic. I think that gun bans are silly, and I don't see how banning a semi automatic .22 does anything to stop violent crime, but come on. Do any of you actually believe that the second amendmant protects you against tyranny. I promise, if the time comes to defend yourself against a dictatorial government (it will be made up of christian fantaics I ppromise) do you think your right to bear arms will be protected?

Mahigir, Pardon me but the people of Germany thought folks like Dietrich Bonhoeffer were being a bit dramatic in his opposition of some guy named Hitler. Hitler had him tortured and executed for his failure to submit.
And as far as a dictatorial government made up of religious fanatics, most of those are in the middle east.Countries with which our current traitor in chief, I'm sorry, our president, has spent a lot of time trying to curry favor.
Your short sighted, biased view of American history demonstrates how much you are unaware of as to the founding of this country. The Battle of Lexington was fought because the British were on their way to seize arms. The patriots rose to stop that.
I have been places where there was limited rights for the populace, and they were afraid of the government and the military (rightfully so as there were no such things as human rights violations there, sort of like the middle east today.)
We live in a country that is quickly turning into a fascist state where industry and people's personal lives are increasingly under scrutiny by the government.
Hate speech is a crime (forget the First Amendment)how can the Second be far behind?
Most of the things Christians stand for are being trampled on by the government, and they will be the first to tell you and me that this is not a Christian country with no Christian roots. They are half right.
Loves to say he creating jobs, welcome people wake up and smell the stinch we placed at running/ruining our daily lives. Just another example..
