The Accuracy International AX offers Remington 700 owners a stability boost with this chassis. There is nothing flimsy about the AX and it will help your 700 reach its full accuracy potential.
Agreed! As a former S.W.A.T. sniper who used the 700 platform, I am looking forward to buying a more "classic" 700 for my deer and pig hunting. I find most of the police/military/"tactical" weapons on the market to be damned ugly, and scream "gear geek" when you see someone using one for hunting. I plan on having the same specs and scope (700, .308, 20" barrel, Leupold VX-3, Harris bipod), but it's going to be a hell of a lot prettier than the one I was issued. Like Andrew, I am in favor of keeping a classic a classic.
And exactly why would I want to uglify my beautiful Rem.700 for what I believe would only be a small upgrade in accuracy in a rifle that is already a legend for accuracy, reliability, and ruggedness? There is nothing attractive about this para-military stock, and it would detract greatly from the sheer beauty and enjoyment of what is arguably one of the finest sporting(not para-military)firearms ever made.I still believe that most people who buy a Remington 700 are looking to buy a fine hunting rifle snd not one that some police or military sniper would be proud to own.To each his own,but my Rem.700 is staying just the way it has been for over 30 years.Thank you very much.Perhaps you people at Outdoor Life need to focus on more traditional hunting and fishing pursuits and stop trying to push so much para-military,zombie,and other no-traditional interests on us.My appologies to any military readers out there, but this is Outdoor Life Magazine and not Soldier of Fortune Magazine.
