Winchester Brings Back Cowboy Favorite: The 1892 Large Loop Carbine - 2

Aficionados of the Western film will immediately recognize the distinctive Winchester 1892 large loop lever rifle. John Wayne’s character, Sheriff John T. Chance, for example, carries a large loop Winchester all through 1959’s Rio Bravo. Now, Winchester Repeating Arms has brought back the rifle, introducing the 1892 Large Loop Carbine for their 2012 product line.

The new rifle looks just like the original 1892 with a 20-inch button-rifled barrel and overall length of 37 ½ inches. It features a Grade 1 walnut stock with a rich, satin finish. The steel contoured carbine strap buttplate is quick to shoulder and protects the buttstock from damage. Also features a Marble Arms front sight with brass bead, and an adjustable rear sight.

The full length magazine holds 10 cartridges and the rifle is available in 357 Mag., 44 Rem Mag., 44-40 Winchester and 45 Colt. Each rifle comes with an eye-catching saddle ring.

But of course what makes this rifle stand out is the Large Loop Lever, which makes it easy to cycle the rife even while wearing gloves. The 1892 will be produced in limited quantities, so interested buyers should contact their Winchester Repeating Arms dealer soon.

MSRP: $1,259.99

I agree with 25/06 guy.The price tag is double the value of a gun chambered in,at best, marginal hunting calibers....this gun was built for the "Cowboys vs Indians" crowd, and in my experience those folks will spend a large chunk of their income to look like they just walked off the set of "Gunsmoke".
I could never understand the point of the larger loop lever action repeaters...."the larger loop allows easy operation even with gloves",well if your wearing such bulky gloves that you cant operate the action isnt your feel of the trigger going to suffer terribly and thus affect your accuracy considerably??

Nice rifle, but the price tag is a little hefty.
