Here's one bowhunter's take on the old loose tooth tied to the door trick. But seriously, this video should probably be filed away in the "do not try this at home" category. While you can definitely give the parents credit for creativity, the safety concepts here are lacking.

I wouldn't call it overkill...no different than tying the string to a door and slamming it.
