Is It A Wolf, Coyote, or Coydog? - 16

A friend in New Hampshire, Mike Romano, emailed us this morning with a fascinating story and two intriguing photos. Here’s his tale:

“So Friday morning we woke up to several of our horse fences broken down and couldn't figure out what really happened to them until I saw the attached Saturday afternoon. I had 9 deer in my driveway on and off most of the day Saturday, but in the afternoon I saw they were on high alert, so I looked out my side window and saw this.”

It’s a big dog no doubt. What do you folks think? Wolf? Big Coyote? Or Coydog? Weigh in in the comments section below.

I would definately say that this is a red Coyote. Just based on the size of it beside the deer carcas I would almost say that is close to a 60-70 lb coyote. Just based on what I have seen from Coyotes in the areas I hunt. But def would be easier to tell if it had a bullet in it. I'd love to have one broad side.

Coyote... and it is standing broadside. Next time shoot it and THEN take pictures.

It's an eastern coyote, don't know why anyone would think otherwise, the facial features give it away.

When I was a kid there weren't any coyotes in New Hampshire. Why not a red wolf.

It's out of the "typical" Red Wolf range by a long ways. I vote big coyote
