Q:This is the first year in the last five that I won't be going to northern MN for the walleye opener which is May 11, this year. Maybe that's a good choice. I'm from IA but would really like some feedback on the ice out situation on Leech, Cass, and other lakes in that area.

Q:What are your tactics for catching ; walleyes, bass, northerns, ect.Im pretty confident by now that walleyes hang out between 14-20 ft and bite on jigs tipped with minnows or leeches. Northerns like spinners as do bass. Northerns also go after minnows at random times during the day. They also will bite rapalas if you speed troll when other fish wont bite. The two best fish to catch when the sun is high are northers and Bass, Crappies and walleyes seem to wait until around sunrise/sunset. Also, if the ice isnt out yet on your lake, just throw in a couple sticks of TNT until you are stratified, (sarcasm)
