Best "Do-it-all" Lures?

. Uploaded on December 18, 2008

What are the best "do-it-all" lures for all fish, regardless of species? I'd imagine you'd have to err on the side of smaller lures to make them effective at catching panfish, small trout, etc.—big fish will still eat small things but small fish can't eat something bigger than their mouths.
So, how about a list of LURES, not bait, that can catch just about any freshwater species, from trout to bass to crappie to stripers to pike...
Roadrunner
Rat-L-Trap
Plastic grub/jig/worm
Mepps squirrel tail spinner
some of these smaller plastic swimbaits from companies like Berkley or Storm would be good too...
others?

that's a pretty solid list. If i had to add something else to it i guess i'd say a spinnerbait. small ones are great for crappie and other panfish as well as trout, original sizes are great for bass and walleye, jumbo sizes can catch pike muskies and stripers.

A second one to add to that is a black wooly booger.

I have caught everything northern, trout, bass, even panfish on a Rooster Tail. However, ruling out panfish, since no-one is after those little bait stealers, A large sized Imitation perch rapala with neutral buoyancy will slaughter most aggresive game fish!
