Welcome to Outdoor Life
Trout
what do you like to do more? flyfish or spin fish for trout? I like to flyfish because any fish is fun on a flyrod; it doesn't matter if it's big or small. but I do like regular fishing because you can get more casts in and cover water better and don't have to worry about drag, etc. so I guess it depends on the situation...
I like to spin fish because when you're fishing in tight spaces you can just slip a spinner or a nightcrawler right into the smallest hole.
LOVE to spinfish, especially in the small native brookie streams of the Northeast. My secret weapon is a swedish pimple. Tough to cast and work sometimes, but they sure do catch fish.
Any way you go it's fun, small creeks are sometimes tough to fly-fish. Do a lot of roll casting. Or strip line and float the fly into the desired spot.
fly-fishing is the traditional way, spinning would be an alternate application.
Spinning works best for me. The streams I fish are in the middle of woods and I get tangled enough this way. Looking for good streams for a beginning fly fisher, though.
I like both but enjoy flyfishing more. Even if I go fish the lake I uasally bring my fly pole also.
both are good. depends on the situation and the targeted trout.
It really depends on a multitude of factors, having grown up spin casting for fish I haven't had alot of time invested into flyfishing. So i'm not as diehard about it, but i'll always carry both rods in the vehicle and my waders.
You mean there's another why to fish other than flyfishing?? Ok, joking aside, I grew up spin/bait fishing but have been a fly guy for the last 7 or 8 years.
Flyfishing is the way to go, although i've never complained when i've hooked into a big 'bow throwing crankbaits.
I do both, though fly fishing is newer to me than spin casting. Spin casting definitely gets me into some places where a fly rod isn't practical, so it's all situation specific.
fly fishing on open streams where i dont have to deal with brush on the back cast...spin fishing gear on stocked fish for most hookups
