Guns

Get ready for a media blitz against gun sin the aftermath of the NY shooting

. Uploaded on April 04, 2009

As I stated in an earlier post the campaign against guns will begin after a Columbine type tragedy. It is possible the NY tragedy may be the event we feared. It seems pretty apparent that the media will begin a call for "sensible" gun laws, that pretty much destroy the meaning of the Second Amendment. That coupled with an Attorney General who has defined the Second Amendment as NOT meaning to save individual rights, but only as given by the government to groups such as the military and police, which is not a lot different than what happened in Germany and Russia. Government canceling out the Second Amendment is but one step in a downward spiral to make this country the United Socialist States Of America. The question is, much as in the other countries who have recently given up their gun rights, how many will really resist when the authorities come to get the guns? Or, as in England and Australia will the general population, led like sacrificial sheep just extend their heads so their throats can be slit by a would be totalitarian regime.
Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

As far as i'm concerned these unfortunate victims that found themselves in this plight are partly to blame for thier own demise . They should have had the ability to defend themselves with or without government approval .

I don't blame the victims for trying to obey the law. There is no way to predict when some miscreant misanthrope is going to appear. That's why the law needs to be changed to allow any law abiding citizen to defend himself.
Unfortunately since I posted this thread, there has been another shooting in Pittsburgh. They (the MSM) are saying the killer used an assault weapon, i.e, an AK47. I am somewhat dubious that it was a full auto AK and if it is not capable of full auto, it is not an assault weapon by the legal defintion. But the MSM has never let facts get in the way of their sensationalist stories. The situation is tragic and if the victims had been able to defend themselves, they would not have been victims and the killer would have been dead before the police got there.
The general public is ill informed about guns, having gotten their education about guns from TV, books(if they can read) and the movies, all of which generally give a false view of the capabilities of firearms. They therefore do not have any kind of background to comment intelligently on the subject. The reaction of the public is what the MSM wants, mass hysteria. Thinking that the only way to stop these kinds of tragedies is to ban guns, there will be outcries for increased laws to put an end to the bloodshed.
The real way to stop all of this is to allow every law abiding citizen to have concealed carry. Then the miscreant misanthropes won't know who might shoot back, and there would be less predatory behavior. Bullies don't pick on someone who can defend themselves.

New York already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. I've always found it interesting that the states with the most gun laws (ie California, New York, DC, Illinois, etc) have the highest crime rates, while those states with the highest number of guns (ie Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Dakotas, Wyoming, etc) have the lowest crime rates. I guess it's true what they say, common sense isn't so common.
