Received my Rem 597 17 hmr recall. Anyone who bought one of these rifles having the same problem. the company only wants to give you a coupon for less than 2/3 of the value of the gun, never mind if you have extra mags you will lose the cost. the gun is still under full warranty but they are not backing it. Paid 350 for gun will get 200 coupon will lose 150 on gun 100 on mags and I'll have 150 in ammo with no gun, not even counting the scope mounting costs and now moving scope to new gun. Gunsmith says gun is blowing extracter from gun. I wasnt hurt by gun but the company is killing me.

So, are they correcting the problem on new Rem 597? More importantly, will they repair your rifle on warranty? While this is an aggravating problem, sometimes you have to settle for the best there is to offer and move along. If they will repair the rifle or if the new improved version is $100 beyond your coupons-having those accessories and ammo to fit the rifle make the decision pretty academic. In business we deal with a many matters for which there are no satisfying solution. The life skill in business and similar everyday choices it to make a decision you can life with. Usually it is counterproductive to get riled up and indigent for long - make the smart choice with all emotion aside and get on with your day.
To be so lucky. There is no correction or new improved gun the 597 22 LR is ok, but the 17 hmr is done in semi auto and at this point the warranty is not worth the paper its printed on, and you are correct in business when one company cant meet your expectations you find another supplier.
Sad to hear about your problems but glad you put it out there ,I was looking at one for my own use have a bolt savage in 17 hmr that is a jewel,just a bolt.1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 150 yards.
