Camouflage Everything?

. Uploaded on September 08, 2009

While preparing my hunting gear for the up coming season a visiting friend remarked about much of my gear is not camouflaged. He wondered why.
There are pieces of equipment I don’t think are wise to camouflage such as flashlight, knife, the tent and truck. Personally when it is time to come off the mountain I do not mind looking down and seeing my camp or truck which if they where camouflaged might be not so easy to see. While field dressing if my knife ends up on the ground it sure is nice to see it, dittos flashlight.
Are there pieces of equipment you prefer not to have camouflaged?

I love camo myself but....Like you said some things should not be camo its hard enuff to find something in the woods. Knife for sure is a no on camo & a key chain. I'll tell the storie with the key chain thing my better half baught me a camo keychain so I put in on my set of keys. Next day we went for a hunt walking along streamy bottom lands I say we only walked a mile then turned back. When I got to the truck I looked at my pack & the pocket with the keys in it was open just a little & you guessed it no keys. I back tracked half way back I almost steped right over them because the camo key chain was long and flat I guess they make them to wear around the neck but all that camo material was covering keys but the material was new still had a little shine to it thats how I noticed theres my keys dang almost steped on them didnt see them. It was getting dark so that didnt help much also. Anything that will help you get home safe I think shouldnt be camouflaged.

for christmas last year i bought my wife one of those oversized camo recliners from bass pro that heats and vibrates. I let her pick it out and thats what she picked. I even thought i would get to sit in it boy was i wrong. At least she wont lose it in the woods though.

Oh and i passed an ford excursion yesterday and it was completley wrapped in camo but it was the one that looks like dried weeds and cattails.

I still don't understand how I got caught up in the camo bandwagon ha ha! Until a few years ago, all my hunting clothes were military surplus and the gear was whatever basic black, metal, wood, material it came in and no real attention paid to real tree/mossy oak. Once I found a deal on some clothes though, I suddenly started getting camo binoculars, belts, hip bags, etc. So far I've been lucky, I've heard enough stories of items being found in the woods years after the original owner lost it, so I look around my spot a lot before I leave...but my day is coming I'm sure.

WVOtter,
Camo clothes are good, don't think to many will lose those in the woods. At least I hope not. But all those other things like binos don't take them off your neck and set them down............

bighunter,
Your buddy is taking scent control way over the top....
It is like a religion to some hunters and they worship at the alter of no smell. That is way too much stress for me to handle.
Sure hope he doesn't drop his camo glasses because he then might start sweating and start all that scent control all over again.
Do you ever slap him on the back and wish him good luck as he heads to his stand?
LOL
