Time to get your deer mount back

How long does it take your taxadermist to get you your deer back?

I shot my first buck opening weekend in November of 2011 and am still waiting. Everyone else from that year has already gotten their mounts back. I also have doe feet from 4 years ago that he hasn't touched yet. I was going to have those made into a gun rack. I'm very frustrated by this wait. I called last November and he said he hasn't started it yet but will have it done by the end of 2013.

It depends on how early in the season I get the deer head to him. It can be over a year if I kill the buck near the end of the season. He charges $325 and is well worth it.

Charlie good to know thanks. I'll have to check out White Bear Taxidermy for a shoulder mount if I shoot a big one. $360 isn't too bad. I take mine down to Corcorans in Hampton. The guy there is great and knows what he's doing. Been very pleased with them. Not sure what he charges for a shoulder mount though.
abfreddie64, I posted a photo of the antler mount on my profile, check it out. It's a simple antler mount but I'm not too handy when it comes to doing those things so I just decided to take it to the taxidermist. I had done a couple a few years ago and they looked kinda junky. But, I just saw these instructions on OL and figure I'll give it a try again with the next buck I shoot. They have some good visuals to go along with the instructions.

Most normal people have an accountant, a lawyer & their doctor. Then there is charlie elk who has his taxidermist who gets charlie's mounts done in 3 months or less. Perhaps I am a member of his frequent mounting program. White Bear Taxidermy - charges $360 whitetail shoulder mount. Pay 1/3 upfront with balance on satisfactory completion.

charlie

Wow taylor that would make me angry...MWK_MN I had a shoulder mount done and because my friend is friedns with him i got it for $315.00, which is "cheap" for around here. Most people charge 400+ for a shoulder mount. My uncle lives North of me and spent 430 two years ago. I am not sure of the price of the moounts like you have gotten. By the way: My Uncle is a wealthy and genorous guy, I put a down payment of 50$ down and he paid for the rest!

it depends on who you go threw as your taxidermy some have time some will later down the road. My freind took a hide in his taxidermist had it done in a record time 7 months hehe what a deal :-) & on top of that he had to pay most the $ up front.

I had the taxidermist put the rack on board with some hide around the the skull part, looks pretty cool. Got it back after about 2 months. That was a loooong two months. If you don't mind me asking abfreddie64, how much for a mount in your neck of the woods. My antler mount was $120.

My dads 6 pointer took 10-11 months because the taxadermist had a lot of customers. My deer will be done in another week or so because it is my NRA instructors friend and he only does about 15/year. The guy i went to gets a lot of stuff shipped in from Texas and he is very good!( I live in Eastern PA) See http://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/bragging-board/recent/single?pnid=1001... for a taxidermy cool pic
