The Boy Scouts have some good books on the subject.
^Yeah, I thought they would be a good resource. My son will be old enough to do boy scouts next year, I can't wait. I was looking for a book that was a little more advanced though.
Go to Amazon and look up "Knots and How to Tie Them". It is an old, out of print Boy Scout publication but there are still some available (cheap). It's one of the most easily understood knot books I've seen.
This is a sounds like a book you might want. It's called The Book Of Outdoor Knots by Peter Owen. Also you can look at this website.
