Your tired old tactics won’t work on pressured waterfowl. To school educated birds, think like the pros who make a living hunting them.
Q:I have a male Golden Retriever Puppy these days that has been sponsoring plenty of laughter and fun in my household. Go to walk the dogs and he steals the leash, recover the lease only to have him take my shoe, I no sooner get the second shoe done up then he has undone the laces on the other one and so it goes. What goes around comes around. My 2 1/2 year old female retriever drove my old guy, Kody, crazy when she was a pup and now it is her turn to have a puppy hanging on her ears. The old guy, Kody, is gone now but he was so close to being human I know he would be laughing to see these two together. Not much here in the way of a question more of an observation.. you want to stay young?? Having the pleasure of raising a good dog, especially a hunting dog and gaining a good friend in the process is a true elixir of life. I laugh EVERY TIME I walk my dogs!

Q:When I started training my pointing Lab with remote bird launchers, she readily zeroed in on bird scent. Now she acts hesitant, as though the launcher noise is a warning that she shouldn't mess with birds. What should I do? -Donald Langefeld, Lexington, KY
