Q:LOL ,IF my questions made you think < then it's purpose has been served.IF your not a novice or a youth hunter do you feel like you been short changed if you buy a tag and go home empty handed ?AS a veteran sportsman you get used to this circumstance early and often. As a trophy hunter it's just part of the territory.I realize not every one has the time to hunt 60 to 80 days deer hunting each season, or the passion .Sure I'm hunting a completely different mind set than most hunters, but it's not really the antlers or the meat,it's the hunt.TO me the term (I'M just a meat hunter) really means is if it's brown it's down. That's not hunting ,it's oppourtunism.Like I stated earlier for beginners this is great.I can't begin to count the beginners I'VE started and the congrats that followed. How many professed meat hunters would pass on a fat doe to take a shot at old mossyhorns traveling with her?Not many, and after taking forks, spikes and button bucks they wonder why they never see a mature buck?
Q:if you hunted an area thourouhly all season long and finally you have an oppourtunity to take a young buck or a doe.would you shoot it ?obviously this herd is in trouble, and no seriour trophy hunter would even consider this option. As a veteran trophy hunter w/50 years experience I'VE WITNESSED what the average meat hunter takes from the field. generally spike bucks top the list.years ago when the white tail were first being reintroduced you hunted for deer. nowdays there are an abundance of them.Im happy for any young hunter or novice that happens to take any deer regardless of sex or age .AS deer hunters though we need to be selective hunters though, unfortunately thats not the case.Sometimes in over populated areas greater numbers of doe deer taken is desireable.HARVESTING YOUNG BUCKS BY MATURE HUNTERS,to me is a sign of greed ,incompetence and ignorance. Why not put a premium on buck tags to help protect them so we all have a chance to fulfill our dreams and not just the back of our pickup trucks ?
Q:Am I the only one having problems with the deer of the year contest when the friends get the email for voting it says I joined the 2011 deer contest even though it clearly says the 2012-2013 deer season on the open page to sign up for the contest no one can vote and I cant vote I have repeatedly asked ODL about this and they have yet to answer me back
