The Fearsome Five![]() Great White Shark
Location: Cool coastal waters all around the world. Size: 15 to 20 feet (sometimes more than 20 feet). Great white sharks have attacked and killed more people than any other shark species. They are the largest predatory fish, and can detect a few drops of blood from up to 3 miles away. These predatory machines have powerful jaws filled with over 3,000 razor sharp teeth. But even with the great white's incredible size and ferociousness, they do not sit atop the food chain. In 1997 a boat full of spectators witnessed a killer whale attack, make dinner out of a 10-foot great white shark off the coast of California's Farallon Islands.
