Maps and a GPS... Steadfast companions in our attempt to catch up with some elk in the Eastern Montana Missouri River Breaks. We had to input the B.L.M. corner post waypoints into our GPS to make sure we were on ground we could legally hunt. We saw over 800 elk in two days around this section of B.L.M. land. We never could get the elk to cooperate and meet us inside the property boundaries. From one spot we could see a herd of 40 bulls bedded on a single hillside and 760 elk in two herds.
