Browning Illusion
PRICE: $649
SPEED: 320.5 fps
WEIGHT: 4.45 lb.
CONTACT: browning-archery.com
WHAT'S HOT: Measuring 33 1/2 inches, this bow is perfectly suited for ground blind or tree stand hunters. It's also fast, sending arrows through the chronograph at an impressive 320.5 fps (4th fastest). For a bow this fast, the Browning was also relatively quiet, at 84.6 db (6th).
The checkered grip was popular with some panelists, as was the Illusion's draw cycle, referred to as "very smooth" by one test member. Limb pockets are clean and keep the limbs aligned nicely.
WHAT'S NOT: We weren't too excited about all the oddly shaped vibration dampeners that adorned the Illusion.
BOTTOM LINE: This bow is a shooter.
PERFORMANCE: 3 out of 4 stars
DESIGN: 2 out of 4 stars
NOISE: 2 out of 4 stars
PRICE/VALUE 4 out of 4 stars
TESTERS' COMMENTS: This bow has a great draw cycle; A bit heavier than I'd like to see; At home in a stand or even on a long spot-and-stalk.

This test helped me alot because the bow i had was old and low in poundage so i wanted to upgrade and then i saw this test. I read through it and decided to either get the BowTech General or the Mathews DXT. i was leaning toward the bowtech General more but then there was a problem with the cams i guess because they were "back-ordering" i think the word is. but i wanted a bow to last so i got a DXT and it's been shipped but isnt here yet so i cant comment on how good it is but i shot it at a local archery shop and it shot really smooth.
The Hoyt Katera Rocked!!!! It's not loud at all, it's actually very quiet! It also very fast and smooth!! It's really not heavy either. I think we need some new bow testers! Probably just a matthews archery lover. The design, performance, and noise(which there is barley any) are all great on this bow! And they do not cost $869. I got my for $699 right from the dealer. Hoyt Rocks!
The mathews dxt is light but thats about it. Its slow and pretty loud! It's not all its cracked up to be. It's a nice bow but slow and pretty loud.
I have worked at many bow shops, which has alowed me to shot alot of hot bows on the market today, an my favorite would be the diamond marquis its very forgiving, fast, and packs a powerful punch.Thats the bow i decided to buy.Any seasond hunter will tell you to buy what feels best to you.
What has happened to high country bows? They were a pretty competative company.
