Funny you should write "give it a little break-in time" it only took 3 week before the SR2 broke. I purchased the 28' Sporting and first it would not eject shells then the selector switch malfunctioned it also refused to close. My dealer sent it right to Mossberg that was 3 months ago. I had my dealer call Mossberg they told them they are waiting on parts! Waiting on parts for three months ! anyway I Purchased a Beretta Silver Pigeon 1 and have been very very happy. So I learned that you get what you pay for.

Not being a shooter I might not "Know" a thing about shot guns but I can't help but agree with KYgunner.

Yours must have been a bad gift. Otherwise, who would choose to purchase a weapon with "metalwork inside the receiver [that was] extremely rough", a "loosey goosey" barrel selector, and a trigger that "sucked bigtime" [sic]? I guess every manufacturer has a stinker or two once in awhile (remember Toyota?). My Version 1 is light, fast, tight, and pretty. It's way more gun than the price tag in comparison to other manufacturer's versions.

I would have like to see a review of Mossberg's maverick over under, just for kicks
