Oh, really? Resolute Bay is north of Ottawa? See, I always heard the polar bear hunting was best just south of Ottawa.
Just kidding. Cool hunt, congrats.
Thats huge!
Wow that's awesome, it must have been an amazing hunt. Awesome photos.
Polar bear hunting is one of the worst displays of trophy hunting. Their is no reason to hunt a species who's population is declineing so rapidly on its own and has such an uncertain future. Did you kill this large bear to make up for your small manhood. I am all for hunting when it is done in an ethical manner for species that are thriving. This is not the case with this hunt.
Leave the Polar Bears ALONE! How can you not know about the rapid decline of the their habitat and how badly they are affected by this!! Come on people!
WOW!!! what a great hunt! my dream is to bow hunt a polar bear someday!!! great pics!
oh, and for blacktail and buckgirl... are you kidding me!?!?!? barely better than a couple tree hugging PETA lovers! haha, if they are on the decline, im sure the Canadian govt will do something, and idk the regs., but i am sure there are a limited amount of tags and such. my deer herd in my state is low this year, guess we should stop hunting them, huh? bunch of crazies!
Congrats on such a great bear! Without sportsman like you, we wouldn't be able to fund the research that helps us learn about and beter manage the bear population.
Ive got a couple of qusetions? Where is this guy from? 'Cause I worked for Jonas Bros. Taxidermy in Denver (10 yrs ago) and was told that U.S. Game & Fish had them listed under the C.I.T.E.S act and U.S. sportsman could'nt import them into the U.S. (at the time) 2) Are the still on the "list". All and all hell of a nice "Yogi"(we called any over 300lbs "yogi" under were "boo-boos".
As for buckgirl and Blacktail, are you two P.E.T.A. plants or what? Look at history you two. If not for hunters we would not be able to hunt ANY of the animals the we get to enjoy chasin here in North America(Canada included).
ez up guys our objective is to educate not chastise those people that don't have all the facts,it;s true world wide the polar is on a decline. while other areas have an abundance that need to be harvested. This hunt was expensive no doubt/ and the proceeds go in many different channels, some is used in research to help this species survive.
I totally agree with Buckgirl and Blacktail! His hunt was irresponsible and quite frankly, only for the "decoration" in his home. The TOTAL population of polar bears is at 20,000- 25,000 and declining rapidly due to global warming. His "tag" fee is a drop in the bucket for scientific research funding. Organizations all over the world are funding research because of their concern so "BoostedRob" we can do without "sportsmen like you".
I'm an avid hunter, but I'm sitting the fence on polar bear hunting....everything I've read says the polar bear population is in decline...so its hard to justify hunting them...If I were that concerned with helping fund research, I'd prefer to donate some money...
Personally I wouldn't hunt them...but that's just my opinion.....
