As I said in my first post, I hope he submits these beautiful antlers to some radiographic verification to stop all of the arguments. That would, I believe settle it once and for all. I personally hope they are real and find them to be awe-inspiring and absolutely beautiful as a natural phenomenon the likes of which I have never seen.

The phoney reasoning for not getting it officially scored sure makes it sound like a hoax to me.

"I don’t want to sit back and watch the buck be exploited for all the wrong reasons. In addition, I would likely lose my privileges of hunting and fishing a prime honey hole full of big bass and big monster whitetails and turkeys"

That's the statement of a con man, somehow you are protecting the buck from exploitation and for some unknown reason you will lose hunting privileges.

The real reason for not proving it's aunthenticity is more likely that it is a fake.

I cannot picture sheds getting tangled in a rack. This fact along makes me question this

As Bo said, show me X-rays THEN I MIGHT believe it.
Tell then, "If it looks like poop, if it smells like poop, It's probably poop". Para-phrased of course.

I agree with Bo, but I know a guy that has shot many 160+ bucks that doesn't turn into pope and young or boone and crockett because he does it for a hobby he loves and doesn't believe in turning them in he just enjoys hunting

A human who dont need money in 2009 hmmmmmmmmmm!
I just want to say I love hunting and evreyone who talks about hunting but come on. If the buck was shot by a arrow that means someone was close enuff to see what they where shoting at! And any hunter who shot that would be looking untill his blisters stoped him from going any further! Another thing this person who put the arrow in it would of stepped up and would claim that was his arrow. Thats just human nature

It has been my experience that if you walk a mile in another mans shoes you will gain understanding of the man. Real or not, hormones or not, it is still OUTSTANDING! Maybe some day when you are too old to hunt and fish you will rub our noses in it. Till then I thank you for the great story, pictures, and controversy. I don't mind being fooled so I choose to believe. Thanks Friend for a little color in a rather drab time.

First off, I agree with larryjduke. A few of these comments as well as many that were posted last week sound like a group of old, whiny ladies!! Gripe after it has been proven, whatever the outcome may be....

To answer the above questions about the shed antler, they can be broken off during aggressive encounters with other bucks during the rut. Obviously this one won the fight!

Enough said!

Yes, antlers can be broken off in a fight, but they won't have the button on the bottom. The antler will break before it dislodges from the head. Period. That shed was stuck in the antlers to add more points and make it look more impressive. Anyone that will do something so obvious, would stop at nothing to make those antlers seem larger than they actually are. I won't believe it until I see x rays. This story reeks of the attacking coyote story, or any of the other crock o' bull stories that have been posted here recently.

I think it is an awesome animal, and hope it is real! But without x-rays we wont know. I think the shed antler could have gotten stuck in the rack in early spring, when he was showing some dominance maybe?.... if he was messing with some buck in the spring he could have had it stuck then with the knob on it still. My friend shot a buck in january and had the antlers fall off just like sheds when he went to drag the deer.

This was nice for a few comments and discussion during the slow summer season... but it's time to end the hoax and get back to reality. Deer season isn't that far away, so, let's start talking about how we can get REAL bucks this fall !

Hey Sucngas. I have one question for you. Do you even know what you are talking about? Yes a rack can break off like this one in the photo did. If they were fighting at the end of the rutt and close to shed time this will happen. Why do you think they have the botton when the shed them? Have you ever seen a shed rack in the wild? If you can't tell that the rack is real. I feel sorry for anything you go hunting for.
This is a moster buck that deserves the recognition its getting and the guy has every right not to get it scored. You dont need xrays to see its REAL. This is a true Monster/BBD

First, I hope this is real. If so awsome buck. One major thing I noticed: The "broken" rack of another deer is obvious in pics 1 and 2. Where is it in 3 and 4? Am I just over looking it?

I have collected probably more sheds than most people have seen, elk, mule deer, whitetail, heck, I've even picked up a few antelope shells. I have lived in Montana and hunted whitetail every season since it has been legal for me to do so, and accompanied the old man since long before it was legal for me to hunt. My whitetail last year scored 150". If you think that thing is real, you are seriously confused. As for the shed caught in the rack, deer do not shed until well after the rut. So you are saying that these deer were out there fighting, after the rut, when they are already in a weakened state, and in the winter when food is scarce. Grow up man. If you think that thing is real, you need help.
