Those are some nice trophies. I'll probably never have the extra coin to do an Africa trip. These pictures may be as close as I can get.

Great trip. Would'nt suggest that "tote" style here in N. America though.

Hey Big O:
Why not? Parasites? That's the first thing that occurred to me, even before I read your comment.

Hey Seadog:
Don't give up! My first Africa trip was conceived when I was 15, and next year at 56 I'm going! less than 7K for 10 days and 6 trophies - including airfare if prices hold!

I am confused by the reference to Limpopo Province- the Drakensberg Mtns are a very long way away from Limpopo (on Google Earth anyway). Like hundreds of miles...I suppose if you're within a couple hundred miles half way across the globe, thats' "close enough".

Thanks for the tip, Vagagondh. Maybe I can pull it off in a few years or so. We'll see how the money goes. Good luck on your trip!

Thanks for the comments. vagabondh - the Drakensberg Mountains are quite long, but the northern end of them is right on the edge of Limpopo Province, near the border with Mpumalanga Province. We hunted southwest of the town of Phalaborwa.

Regarding parasites, it's good to be cautious. The main vermin were tiny seed ticks, called pepper ticks by some because they're about the size of a flake of black pepper. Hard to see and even harder to pick off. Take Deet-based repellant when you go and spray your clothes.

Good luck on your trip. It's definitely the hunting adventure of a lifetime, and I hope your years of dreaming are well-rewarded.
