Busting Canada Bears
Springtime means one thing to most hunters and that is turkey season, pure and simple. But turkey hunting isn’t the only game in town at this time of year.

While some states and provinces are suitable for spot-and-stalk hunting or limited it to it by law, most folks rely on baiting bears from the thick, reclusive forests these creatures call home. In the virtually endless boreal forests of northern Alberta, that is certainly how they do it, though some of the sweet grasses along the sparse road edges and openings do present the occasional stalking possibility. very cool, would love to hunt black bear with a bow!
I would love to go bear hunting, keep hoping I'll be able to, right after Moose hunting in Alaska, Mule Deer and Elk hunting in the Rockies.
Nice bears!
Great stories and photos.
We have been to Saskatchewan and Alberta spring bear hunting with our bows and what a rush!!!
In 2007 I harvested a beautiful P&Y brown colorphase and it is now a full size mount in my basement.
We just returned from Saskatchewan and both my husband and I harvested nice black bears.
Congrats on your bears and best of luck on your next hunt.
JB
Thanks guys. This was definitely one of the cooler hunts I've been on. Lots and lots of bears. And while on this one I was testing out some new Winchester slugs (which I can't wait to try out this fall on some big whitetails as well!), this type of hunt is one of the most ideal setups I can imagine for a bowhunter. Definitely want to go back and try it with a bow one of these days.
