Monster Killer
Mary Ellen headed out on Lake Moultrie last week and came back with one of the biggest gators ever caught in South Carolina.
The trio caught the big lizard on Lake Moultrie on September 15th. After Mara-Christian hooked the gator with a heavy-duty fishing pole the group went to work hauling it to the boat. It took about two hours to put him down for good. AdvertisementADVERTISEMENTAdvertisement |

Isn't it something when you here about these people that think they are really great sportsman when they tell everyone that they caught a gator with a rod a reel, then come to find out they not only shot it several times and when it didn't die stab it until they severed the spinal cord. She also didn't do this by herself she had alot of other people helping her, so lets not make her out to be some great white
hunter. She would have never been able to get that gator if she was by herself. Next they will be making it legal to jack deer at night. Just turn on the spot light and shoot em between the eyes.
man what a lizard. they really need a season if their gators are that big
Poor Gator. Such an awesome animal. You never really get to see them grow to such an astounding size.
That's an awful lot of alligator bags.
Man, I thought Alaskan women were tough!
I hope they didn't have to pay by the pound:]
How old was it?
that is one masive gator!!!
Wonders if we could get a few politicians to go act as bait seein as most of em are pertty stinky folks.Know a few that would make good gator bait but that may be considered cruelty to animals to feed em such puritd meat.
it was 13 feet 7 inches and like 880 pounds
my uncle gordon swygert killed the state record for south carolina last year
@pjsabella that was my reply to alex when he read me the article

I meant to say nile crocidiles
I can easily see the population exploding given that these brutes are gone ,these would eat hundreds of baby gators ,those things are massive and I thought nile were scary loking
Hey sblawyer,
Yoda is right on the money. You can catch (or snag) a gator with bowfishing equipment, a spear or heavy-duty fishing tackle. With a big gator you usually have to get more than one line into him so he doesn't break free. Then once you can tire him out enough to get him to the boat, you shoot him (or in this case you knife him). But different states have different laws on gator hunting.
When they say they are fishing for gators they are usually trying to hook or snag them with bait and bring them in for the shot. Friggen awesome gator, that thing is massive.
That's quite a gator. If she was out fishing, how on earth did she end up catching a gator like this? I wouldn't want to have just a fishing reel between me and monster like that! I thought they were shot, not caught.
So which state has the bigest gators?
Wha'd they use for bait, a Black Angus?
That's a big gator--I'm jealous!
Wow! That is one big gator.
Damn where does one put a 13ft gator? Why in the house of course. Congrats to Mary Ellen on an awsome hunt.
