The Archery Trade Association show is an annual event where the biggest names in the archery industry come together to roll out their latest and greatest products.

The show kicked off on Thursday morning with the unveiling of Bowtech's newest creation, the Invasion CPX. A crowd gathered around the bow which was covered with a black veil and guarded by large men in black Bowtech t-shirts. A clock counted down before the bow was finally uncovered.

I eventually got to shoot the bow, and have to admit it was pretty sweet, but I'll leave any further dissection to OL's test team in the 2011 Bow Test.

The Invasion features a binary cam system which means both cams are perfectly symmetrical and turn in synchronization. This is supposed to provide better nock travel that maximizes accuracy and consistency.

Crossbows
Parker's new crossbow is definitely one of a kind. It utilizes a replaceable CO2 cartridge to automatically cock and release the bow. All you have to do to cock the bow is press a button at the end of the stock. It's makers say that the CO2 mechanism will hold up even in cold weather when the C02 condenses.

This crossbow from Gearhead Archery is not on the market yet, but its makers hope it will be available by June. It uses reverse cam technology reminiscent of Horton's Vision. As you can see, it's much more compact than most crossbows.

Gearhead's crossbow, which doesn't have an official name yet, combines the feel of shooting a handgun with crossbow technology. It's compact design was made to be maneuverable in the tree stand and light for long days hiking the backcountry. Its makers say it can hit 330 fps and will cost between $700 and $800.

At the Archery Trade Association show OL took a look at the newest bows and crossbows to hit the market in 2011.
