As Mary says, "3D archery is huge in Oklahoma." She says 3D ranges there cater to organizations such as the ASA (Archery Shooters Association) and NASP. As a result, Oklahoma hosts some of the most challenging 3D archery tournaments in the country.

It's not just that Mary is a gifted archer. She also happens to be a long-time fan of OL. "My family loves Outdoor Life Magazine. I think my husband has been a subscriber since Boy Scouts, 35 years," she says. photo courtesy of Adoralee Photography LLC

She has certainly put in time and dedication to her craft. Mary has been hunting for 15 years, and seriously bowhunting for roughly a decade. She's been a competitive archer since 2005.

Mary has loved the outdoors for as long as she can remember. Her father was in the military, so the constant moving and traveling gave her an appreciation for various landscapes. photo courtesy of Adoralee Photography LLC

Of course, nowadays, archery is Mary's main outdoor passion, and she owes much of it to her husband, Aaron. "He loves archery," she says. "He believes archery is very empowering, especially for women. And he's right. When he brought home my first bow, I was hooked with the first shot." photo courtesy of Adoralee Photography LLC

Mary loves helping new shooters, and believes in practice. One tip she offers new archers is to think about "aiming" the bow, not "shooting" it. "Aim, aim, aim!" she says. photo courtesy of Adoralee Photography LLC
