sectional densities and ballistic coefficientcy have already been charted to trajectory tables that can be found on a manufactures table for that bullet and caliber.the design and type of bullets used on different types of game makes interesting talk around campfires , . the main reason some bullets have flatter trajectory than others is lighter bullets generally shoot faster but have less stored energy .

try this on/see what u think/i'd suggest to you a 20 gauge single shot.the recoil is negligible.the benefits is you will learn to get on target better knowing you have one shot, and not being disrespectful to you it's much safer to handle while you learn.Even after youre missed shots you can stil track the game helping you prepare for the day when you move up to a gun that is capable of shoting more than once with a cool head.YOUNGSTERS and I was the same get excited and sometimes shoot in a rush.I promise you that you'll mature into a safer and more efficient hunter using this tactic.

SGEORGE , I also use the remington pump {7600} but before i had this rifle i used the remmington 7400 semi auto,a problem developed with it using 180 grain loads as it scarred the ejector slide causing it to jam.this was pointed out to me by a gunsmith that maintained the arsenal at the ft. knox gold vault, so i figured he knew what he was saying.after sanding and polishing this slide it worked ok but my faith was lost on this weapon .he recommended that i not shoot over 165 grains . in the semi auto. SO I switched to the pump and followed his advice on this weapon as well.If after firing youre pump if you choose the 180 grain , check the inside slide for nicking on the afore mentioned slide .hopefully no problem will surface as i haven't tried that myself,no doubt the 180 is preferable for elk, i'm just advising with murphys law in mind. good luck

they can indeed be tricky birds,as a young bird hunter i was frustrated when my father took birds in the tree tops while i tried to search for an opening.so i asked him how he managed to shoot thru the trees, his reply was ;what trees?' he said to swing with the bird and shoot when it felt right.that was 40 years ago and i've not had better shooting advise since.youre going to miss some targets, but then they are history all part of the fun,so don't be o hard on youre self.if u shoot for scores then you tend to rush youre shot ,which in a hunting situation you would letthem pass ,so in a way u can develope bad habits.remember with clays the bird looses speed, but wild game is often accelerating.still the overall benefits and fun to be had are beneficial.all this talk makes me wanna break out the old wingmaster and head to stations. good luck and enjoy

Those that are concerned i'll show them that they can shoot from the hip or one handed without any i'll effects.
