Don't be afraid to go with a used firearm, and look into gun shows. Be flexible with the caliber if all you want to do is shoot or hunt a specific type of game. I got a remington 700, brand new at a gun show for $400. But i consistently see good rifles with open sites for around 200-500. Also my brother jsut bought a 30-30 marlin lever gun from dick's sporting goods for about $375 and it came scoped and bore sighted.
I've been keeping my eye out for that one, it came up in my fish and wildlife management class a few years ago. I saw the movie it was decent. Cool thanks for the suggestions.
So I went to a used book sale put on by the local library yesterday and while I was browsing the multitude of literature from L'amour to Dan Brown I found an older book by Nick Sisley (Grouse and Woodcock An Upland Hunters Book) So far it has proven to be an interesting book. I've found that in many cases older outdoor literature is very interesting, does anyone have any titles that they've found to be particulalry memorable or captivating that I may add to my currently small collection?
I think what it really boils down to is being prepared for the unexpected and having a contingency plan if things go sour. It's also a good idea to make sure you know your limits, if you're in a new area and a storm pops up probably best to call it a day while you still know where you are at. Knowing your limitations is key so you know how far you should take it, unfortunately many people will continue because they believe they can tough it out. I'm not saying that you shouldn't push yourself, but when it comes down to your life, maybe you need to be a little more conservative in your decision making and turn around while you can.
Wow that would be insane to have happen, that is lucky that it wasn't worse.
I'm not opposed to what is legal or tradition in other areas. The same thing came up about dogs and bear hunting not to long ago up here, though it's definitely not legal to hunt deer with dogs in my area. But to each their own.
True inanimate objects do not kill people
I'm not sure i'm looking currently for a good shotgun for waterfowl and upland game, probably going to go with a remington of some sort.
Nope can't say that i've ever actually seen one in person. They defeinitely don't stock them in maine. But I'm pretty sure they won't reproduce in the wild as it's likely sterile. Most fish hybrids that get stocked typically are.
I've seen something that might be similar for the bed of a truck, can't remember what it was called though.
